We assure you that we will take all reasonably available steps to safeguard all such information of a confidential nature.

Although AMS has procedures and technologies in place to protect against unauthorized disclosure of confidential information, because of the current regulatory climate surrounding use of the Internet, as well as the possibility of unintended disclosures caused by third-party negligence or malfeasance, AMS cannot guarantee that information posted on this site will remain confidential at all times. In addition, to the extent you provide or access information on AMS's system through the use of a password, we encourage you to keep your password confidential and secure, as we cannot be responsible for acts resulting from the unauthorized use of your password.

We must sometimes ask our members for medical information protected by the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Our applications, for example, ask for information regarding any claims made against you in the past, and our Claims staff may need medical information to provide claims service; our Risk Managers may also need medical information to assist you. Some of this information will be protected by HIPAA. We are, therefore, adding provisions to each of our policies that confirm we will keep the protected information confidential as required by HIPAA. This is referred to as a "Business Associate Agreement," which simply means that persons sharing protected information in the course of authorized business will do so in compliance with the requirements of HIPAA.

The types of information that may be gathered by AMS in connection with your use of this site includes information relevant to your policy and coverage, including information about your training, credentials, work history, and license status. We may also gather information concerning any claims previously instituted against you by patients or licensing bodies.
